Bo G's NIS 26 Sail

The picture shows my timing-belt tiller-tamer. Not my idea, really. Somebody described it in "Messing About in Boats". I love this thing. The NIS has no directional stability and will zoom off wildly if you let go of the tiller. The timing-belt tiller-tamer cost nothing. The timing belt came from a dumpster at a garage. The s.s. strap (cut off scrap of a mast tang, nicely electropolished) swings up when not in use.

The cleat on the bottom of the tiller releases when the rudder hits an obstruction. The cleat is made by Clamcleat in the UK. Works great. It has done it's job many times over the last 5 years.

Thanks, -Bo
